Apple Roof Cleaning Tampa will never use any form of Pressure Washing on a Tile Roof. Using high pressure to clean a tile roof is a crude, and invasive form of cleaning. Instead of relying on high pressure to remove the algae and dirt, we use soaps and tile roof cleaning chemicals, specially designed to clean your roof the safest, and most long lasting way possible.

How Do I Keep My Roof Clean In The Future ? Unfortunately your tile, shingle, or metal roof will get dirty again, and sometimes much faster than the first time. This is because as a shingle roof ages, it looses it’s protective granules that help keep this Algae from regrowing. Apple Roof Cleaning Tampa™ offers low cost maintenance programs, to help keep your roof looking new, and help it last as long as possible. We use our exclusive Alage, Mold, and Mildew prevention chemical we call ™ Apple Sauce, that is applied to clean, or brand new tile or asphalt shingle roofs.

Tile help. I have monier concrete tiles with all through color, approx 7 years old. My house was damaged by the neighbors house fire and many tiles had to be removed to replace the underlayment. We have had to salvage as many tiles as possible, my size is no longer mad. The issue that I’m having is I have noticed many micro cracks on the tiles and the color of my tiles have changed . I have tried the usual cleaning products. Used Krud Kutter and scrubbed the tiles. Using soft wash method. These tiles have been handled so much. I have been looking at Ghostshields products. Was thinking about using a densifier and then a sealant, I am also very close to the ocean so my roof takes a beating. I wanted to use there cryli tek 5500 , it has a matte finish and says it will enhance the colors of the tile. I was also going to use the lithi tek 4500 for my densifier. Someone in there technical dept suggested that I use the siloxa tek 8500 since it will create a hydrophobic barrier. Only thing is nothing else can be applied over it but the same product. There is also the lithi tek 9500 which has the densifier and sealer in one but from what I have read I don’t believe it will enhance the tile. Any suggestions? Thank you. PS: I have also read that the Sila tek 3500, which was also suggested has more chance of leaving a white haze than the lithi tek 4500. I will also be doing this myself, don’t trust anyone to walk on my roof, someone always breaks a tile

Can I Just Pressure Wash My Roof ? Tile and Shingle Roofs should Never be pressure washed. Pressure washing damages your roof shingles by blasting away the granules, and this crude and invasive method of cleaning doesn’t really kill all of the algae growths. Typically roofs that have been pressure washed here in Tampa, will need to be cleaned again in as little as one year, depending on the amount of rainfall. Besides ruining your shingle roof, all pressure washing does is scatter the still living algae from you roof all over the place.
A dirty roof is unsightly and can make your home seem older than it is, reducing its resale value and curb appeal. Moss, algae and mold are regular culprits that grow on roof tiles and discolor them, whether they are ceramic, clay, asphalt or concrete tiles. If a roof is very dirty, with years’ worth of accumulated mud and dust, bird droppings and fungus, a low-pressure wash-down using suitable products is necessary. Some professional roof cleaners advocate a non-bleach cleaning method for lower environmental impact, while others prefer to use bleach-based chemical products.
Porous Tile Cleaning Products While ceramic tiles can usually handle high-pressure washing, both concrete and clay tiles are more porous. This causes them to readily absorb chemicals used, which could damage the tiles in the long term. Wash the tiles down with a mild, bleach-based cleaning solution or a gentle, soap-based household cleaning product that will not damage the cellular structure of the tiles. Coat the tiles afterward with a clear tile sealer or topcoat, which will make them less porous and smoother, inhibiting the adherence of dirt and fungi. Coated tiles can often simply be rinsed off with clear water.
How Much Will it Cost To Clean My Roof ? Each house is evaluated individually. Size, pitch, and type of the roof, type and amount of landscaping, gutters or no gutters, and also shingle color, are all factors taken into consideration in determining price. We give you your roof cleaning cost, right over the phone. We seldom have to actually come out and inspect each job. We do offer FREE, no obligation estimates.
Low-Pressure Cleaning Products Pressure-washer cleaners come in detergent kits designed for use with pressurized equipment. Highly concentrated products such as Krud Kutter Multi-Purpose House Wash Concentrate create large quantities when mixed with water at the recommended dilution rate. For example, 1 gallon of Krud’s will clean approximately 4,000 square feet if used with pressure equipment. The product is formulated to penetrate the surface of the roof tiles to lift out stains and fungi and is biodegradable and non-toxic to plants and animals. Roof washing should be done at a low pressure to avoid damaging the roof.
Mallard Cleaning Systems, LLC 4.33 Project: Clean a Roof Orlando, FL They were the mot expensive of the three, but did work with me on the price. I had to have them come back twice. Once for spot cleaning that didn’t come out the first time and a second time to clean out the gutters from roof debris. They were very courtious, and came back promptly.
Biodegradable Cleaning Products For homeowners who prefer environmentally friendly cleaning products that are less harsh on the roof tiles, a product such as Defy Roof Cleaner concentrate may be suitable. Formulated from a blend of detergents, coupled with buffered sodium metasilicate made from sand and soda ash, the product is a recognized non-pollutant. It is harmless to surrounding vegetation, comes in 1-gallon containers and dilutes to a ratio of 6:1. The solution rinses away with clear water after use.

What’s That Black Stuff On My Roof ? It’s a living organism, a Cynobacteria called Gloeocapsa Magma, which is a type of algae. This is commonly referred to as “fungus or mildew growth” here in Tampa, Florida. The discoloration usually has a brown to black appearance, and may be mistaken for dirt or soot. This algae has tiny root systems that work their way into the pores of your tiles, and wrap around the granules of your shingle roof, weakening fibers and wearing off granules, thus shortening it’s life. They also feed on the organic material found in your shingles. The longer these microbial growths stay on your roof, the more damage they will do.
